Fraser Mills is a fictitious town in the south west of British Columbia. This is an area of many lakes and one of the themes of the layout is a working model of a train barge. Up until 1988 the Canadian Pacific Railway operated the last of their many train barges in this area, that at Slocan Lake. This operation is described on the display board on the end of the layout.

Our Model will show the barge being unloaded and loaded with trains, and then moving across the lake.

At the opposite end is another spectacular feature, Sunkist Canyon, this is loosely based on Cheakamus Canyon on the British Columbia Railway. Make sure you do not miss the spectacular view as train pass over the high viaduct. Also look out for the bungee jumper. As per the lake, we use special HO scale water (courtesy of the local water company!) to give the realistic impression of a real river complete with waterfall.

A recent addition to Fraser Mills has converted the end-to-end operation into a through main line on which many freight and passenger trains will be seen. We feature the famous Canadian trains-continental passenger trains; 'The Canadian' and 'The Trans Continental'. In addition we have our version VIA Rail's 'Skeena' train which we call The Lakelander. The through trains haul a mixture of merchandise such as; minerals, grain and forest products. The new addition also includes a large lumber mill where switching (shunting) takes place, including the interchange with the train barge.

During our display we run trains from all regions of western Canada plus a few interlopers from south of the border, the United States of America. Our model has no connection with the actual Fraser Mills which is suburb of the City of Vancouver. We trust that you will enjoy your trip to our Western Canada.

The layout is being modified to make a 'T' shaped layout that will be easier to transport and operate.
